5 July 2023
Follow the numbers.

From innovative hair removers and smart self-tanners to at-home peels, high-pigment eye
colours and lip-plumping liners, here’s what the 03 team are trying this month.

1. Colour that cares
Seeking a long-lasting matte lippy that gives a soft-focus effect but doesn’t dry out your precious pout? Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Lip Blur ($60 at Mecca) is here, and it’s as good as you’d expect from the international queen of beauty. Getting technical, the range of eight hues uses innovative powder-blur technology to deliver bold colour with a perfected, powder-matte finish that feels weightless on the lips, hyaluronic acid for instant hydration that also helps lips retain moisture over time, and a film-forming resin to create a smoothing, subtly blurring layer that ensures colour stays put for up to 12 hours without flaking, creasing or feathering.

2. Hair for it
New from Essano, the Exper+ise haircare range ($26 each) is designed to deliver salon-quality results for a range of hair health concerns that stem from the scalp, at affordable prices. Created using cutting-edge technology, the collection of shampoos, conditioners and treatments comes in four targeted clean beauty haircare regimes (Hydration + Shine, Strength + Repair, Growth + Volume and Detox + Exfoliate).

3. Like, totally clean
As pioneers of the ‘double cleanse’, Dermalogica is all about achieving ultra-clean, healthy-looking skin by cleansing twice: first with an oil-based cleanser, then with a traditional cleanser. But sometimes (often) we just don’t have the time – which is where new Oil to Foam Total Cleanser ($115), an all-in-one make-up remover and cleanser, comes in. To use, slightly dampen face, massage onto skin and eyes to dissolve surface oil and dirt, then wet hands to create a foam to wash away makeup, sebum and sunscreen, before rinsing with warm water.

4. Out of the ordinary
New from the cult beauty brand, The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturising Factors + Beta Glucan ($28) is a lightweight gel-cream that promises to provide topical delivery of skin-identical natural moisturising factors, ceramides and beta glucan. The next big thing in moisture, research shows beta glucan is 20 percent more hydrating than hyaluronic acid. The Ordinary’s beta glucan comes from reishi mushrooms and is also a great antioxidant. Highly recommended for oily/acneic skin types.

5. Think pink
Lovers of pink will be swooning over the latest release from Hermès Beauty – the Rose Hermès collection – with three new shades of ultra-light, highly pigmented blush enriched with subtle mother-of-pearl micro-particles for an iridescent finish, plus a rosy lip enhancer, joining the range of luxurious refillable beauty objects designed by Pierre Hardy.
