Follow the numbers.

From cult Parisian makeup and miracle pimple patches to Hollywood-worthy hair and
skin-loving foundations, here’s what the 03 team are trying this month.

  1. Ooh la la
Cult beauty fanatics will be très excité at the arrival in New Zealand of Violette_FR, the much-coveted collection founded in 2021 by French makeup artist Violette Serrat with the mission of celebrating individuality and self-expression. From the end of August, Mecca NZ will be stocking a curated Violette_FR edit featuring nine innovative products spanning six categories, including fragrance, hair, lip, eyes (pictured: Yeux Paint in Bleu de Minuit, $56), complexion and skin. With quality and creativity at the forefront, each product is meticulously created to complete, not to compete with other brands.
  2. Spot on
New from Dermalogica is Deep Breakout Liquid Patch ($69), a near-magical little tube created to tackle those tricky-to-treat deep cystic blemishes. This potent sulphur-based treatment goes on clear and dries invisible, so you can use it anytime, anywhere – even over makeup. The skin-mimicking film forms a semipermeable patch that allows airflow while protecting skin from pollution and irritants, while the inclusion of 4 percent niacinamide helps soothe skin and fade post-breakout marks.
  3. Luxe locks
Get Gwyneth Paltrow hair at home with newly released GOOPGLOW Amino Acid Shinebath Shampoo ($58 at Mecca). This sandalwood- and frankincense-scented cushiony gel shampoo foams into a luxe lather that promises to both cleanse and hydrate. A powerful blend of 11 amino acids works to improve lustre and shine, while nourishing botanicals and hydrolysed pea protein moisturise, condition, detangle and smooth.
  4. Got the power
The radiant new counterpart to MAC’s cult classic Studio Fix Fluid SPF15, Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation ($82), is powered by an 80 percent skincare base featuring a punchy cocktail of 33 skin-loving ingredients including a 10 percent hyaluronic acid solution. With a lightweight, cushiony gel texture designed for buildable and customisable colour that instantly evens out the complexion and blurs the appearance of pores, redness, dark spots and dry fine lines, the foundation is available in 56 shades and offers up to 12 hours of longwearing glow.
  5. Pump up the volume
Extending their much-loved Rechargeable Salon Pro range, Lady Jayne has launched its Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush ($120) for on-the-go oomph without the major price tag. Handbag/travel friendly, this sleek little number is designed with an even-heated barrel and unique bristles to ensure hair is perfectly styled from root to tip. Promising an 80 percent increase in volume after initial use and 74 percent volume retention even eight hours after use, it comes with USB rechargeable functionality.
